A quick snap shot of my living room. Entertainment unit and embroidered stockings by Pottery Barn.

Tis the season to fill your home with holiday cheer! The most wonderful time of the year is here! You may be hosting a holiday party or just looking to make your home burst with Christmas spirit. Whether you are just getting your decor out of storage or have already started to deck the halls, I have a few tips to help spread the magic of the season throughout your entire home.

  1. Keep ornaments classic and timeless

I just love the look of a classic silver ornament to commemorate a milestone year. Like the silver plated engravable Baby’s 1st Christmas boot from Pottery Barn. Personalize your tree further with family photos, but in a timeless way. Every year, I order these pretty glass ornaments from Shutterfly. I just love how the twinkle lights illuminate them at night!

2. Create vintage book bundles wrapped in white paper and red ribbon. Or unwrapped with twine

I found a stack of vintage Reader’s Digest books at an antique store 3 years ago. I’m so happy I purchased them as I’ve used them countless times for photo shoots and now decor for me home. Incredibly time less and enchanting, the books lend so much texture and dimension stacked or wrapped. They make for such lovely decor during the holidays! p.s. Loving my Alora Ambiance reed diffuser, they have the best fragrances for the home!

3. Decorate with luminary globes

Whether you buy them pre-assembled or assemble them yourself (it’s simple, just feed a string of battery led lights with a glue dot or two, and close the top), these ethereal globes create that holiday “glow” you were looking for. I got these ones from Ikea.

4. Transform your dining table into a creative Christmas village

This is a great place for all the crafts your kids bring home and for that oversized gingerbread house to live! And don’t forget the elf!

5. Festive entryway table: Layer greenery, texture, and color with family photos tucked in between

It’s the perfect way to say happy holidays to guests as they enter.

6. Add a simple string of lightweight garland to your chandelier

It adds just an extra festive touch to your Christmas dinner party!

7. Hang ornaments as decor

There’s a handful of ornaments that I have that could live elsewhere besides the tree. I like these to stand out on their own, so I place them on vases or bookshelves as decor. It’s a great, unexpected touch.

8. Warm up your holiday decor with a basket of cozy throws

Perfect for all the chilly holiday movie nights around the tree!

9. Use a festive blanket as a tree skirt

I found this vintage black and red gingham blanket years ago at an antique store. It gives a more classic feel to the tree than the traditional skirts you buy at the store.

10. Personalize your stockings with photos

I just love these silver and red stocking holders from Pottery Barn. They give such personality to each stocking and you can switch them out every year. I like to keep the photos black and white to let the pretty red border pop. So classic!

I hope you are able to use at least one of these holiday decor tips to deck your halls with a little bit of Christmas sparkle! Leave a comment and let me know which tip is your favorite!
