2021 has been an amazing year of press about my Personal Branding Photography. I have received a lot of inquires from photographers and entrepreneurs wanting to learn about what I’m doing and how I can help them become more successful.
With us entering the last quarter of 2021, many businesses are starting now to plan their social media marketing calendar for 2022. I think it would be valuable and timely to take this opportunity and share my knowledge on what Personal Branding Photography is all about.
What exactly is Personal Branding Photography?
Personal Branding Photography is a niche of commercial photography that focuses on capturing the persona of a brand with storytelling imagery that connects the brand with its target audience. Done successfully, Personal Branding Photography helps establish an emotional connection with their followers, gaining trust, and ultimately converting to sales.
Depending on the brand, this storytelling imagery can be a blend of documentary, portrait, lifestyle, and product photography. It describes the personality behind whatever the brand is in such a way that it engages your target audience and makes you relatable. The images, combined with compelling captions, posted on a consistent basis can establish an emotional connection, something an ad or promotion couldn’t do.
64% of women and 68% of men surveyed have felt an emotional connection with a brand. Good branding elicits emotional responses from your audience, which is what helps you form connections with them in the first place.
Personal Branding Photography has become incredibly popular due to the social media boom (mainly Instagram) where the need of using imagery to market one’s brand became imperative to stay relevant in their industry. This spans almost any industry you can think of. From entrepreneurs, speakers, real estate agents, boutiques, dentists, interior designers, financial advisors, etc.
The need for Personal Branding Photography became even further in demand during the pandemic shutdown as social media became the sole form of how people communicated. As unemployment numbers soared, so did people’s need to re-invent themselves or start that new passion project. Hence the need for updated imagery!
A study of consumer behavior showed that 94% of customers are likely to be loyal to a brand that offers complete transparency. To foster positive relationships with your customers as a brand, honesty really is the best policy.
Not all Personal Branding Photography is created equal. Like most trades, there is good photography and there is the not so good. What you post image-wise to represent your brand is extremely important as it will symbolize the face of your company. Choosing the right images and the right photographer is equally as important.
